a couple...

a couple of LO's for the CC at SBT50
this is the criteria for the first LO:

"How Annoying!!
this challenge is about, annoying song lyrics!!
scrap a layout, using lyrics from an annoying song!   use at least a line of the lyrics, not just one word! We have to be able to recognise the song, either by your choice of photo, or by the lyrics you use!

also the following criteria on your layout:
- bright colours
- layering with foam tape
- beads!"
MY song was from way back in the eighties by The Waitresses- 'I know what boys like'
can you remember that far back lol. Well I can and this was one annoying song!

foam tape

beads
and the second LO's criteria were:
"using the lyrics from ..."I Wanna Rock n Roll All Night"
use lyrics from the song somewhere on your layout, BUT you will need to use a line / phrase (one word is not enough!)

In addition to the lyrics, you will also need to include the following:
1. use at least 2 photos
2. a ticket
3. at least one piece of altered chipboard"

The line i used was of course 'you're lookin' fancy and i like your style'
my altered chipboard were butterflies that i misted and then painted with crackle paint

and some tickets
I was initially a bit scared with all these detailed criteria about song lyrics etc, but once i got thinking i was happy with what i came up with!
TFL!

steiglitz

We spent the day yesterday at Steglitz with 4 other families and their kids (16 including ours)
The kids had ball playing and exploring.

There were a couple of light showers but not enough to dampen our little fire!
There were lots of things to occupy 16 young children.

There were large rivers to conquer!

and technically engineered bridges to cross....
just in case you weren't able to cross those large rivers on your own!

If you were feeling unwell like these twin boys you could just sit...
and soak up the bush surrounds (or sleep in the car for a couple of hours)!

There were other technically engineered feets of wonder to achieve.
Like building great dams!

or if inclined you could scale the side of the mountain and explore caves...

of course getting down from the side of the mountain means sliding down on your bum!
(i have lots of clothes soaking in nappysan this morning)....

And if all that isn't enough adventure for you there's alway a game of cricket to fall back on.

Thanks for a great day
x

a trip to the art gallery

Maggie really enjoys art!
She spends nearly every waking moment drawing/ cutting/ pasting anything crafty she loves.
At preschool she has been learning about artists and famous pieces of art
Not sure why but she has taking a real liking to Van Goghs 'starry starry night'.
You know this one
she even drew her own version of  'starry starry night' (which i've scrapped, but not photographed)
Anyway i thought she would like to visit a real art gallery so that's why we went here a week ago
Photographs aren't allowed inside thegallery but we did get some of the outside of this lovely building.
I really enjoyed going to the gallery with you Maggie, watching you skip about from one painting to the next
choosing which were you favorites.
I cherish these Wednesdays (the one day you're not at preschool) that we have spent together this year. Just the two of us, or should i say three of us.

Of course 'Little Mommy' came with us aswell, she still goes most places with you.
xx

Six LO's and the one where we lost the prelim....

The first 3 of this buch of layouts are all using bons sept kits

lots of yummy girly papers and some gorgeous new MME papers in the girl kit.
and crate paper and basic grey in the boy kit
the challenge was to scrap a photo that was taken 12 months ago and journal about how life is changed or stayed the same.
extra criteria were a) painting (other than on your background Cardstock). see the little blue and white whiskers i painted on their faces(hehe)
b) a stamped title or quote
c) two dates; the date of your your photo and the date of your journaling.
I really enjoyed this challenge, I got to use the prima masks bought here
i'll be using them again lots i'm sure
Unfortunately all our excited anticipation was for naught, our team put up a dismal performance in the prelim final and that's our season over for 2010:(  Still we can't complain the Geelong Cats have had lots of success in the last four years.
One thing i am thankful for is the way my sweet hubby behaves regarding sporting loses. He's such a great role model for our boys and girl, (not that she is all that interested in footy or sport at the moment-give it time though lol) he doesn't bag or rubbish other teams. He accepts his teams' failures and although he obviously likes it when he wins (who doesn't) he takes it all in his stride.  I've always admired his good sportsmanship and hope that our kids model their behaviour on their Dad :).  Not that their mother is a bad sport or anything, lol.

The next two layouts were done for the september Cyber crop at Scrapbooking top 50
all the challenges are about mysic and lyrics, lots of fun.
the criteria for this lo was to use 1)music paper, 2)monochromatic & 3) pearls.
i used some Kaisercraft PP's and the music paper is 7gypsies.
the buttons and lace doiley are from Purple Pumpkin. Sam has the most gorgeous fabric covered buttons and fabric flowers love them.
the criteria for this mini challenge was to use individual music notes
and a LO smaller than 12x12" mine is 6x12"
i used another Purple pumpkin button on this LO. See the gorgeous little mushroom, so cute!!

so thats two of the 5 challenges down for this cyber crop and they're not due til the 26th sept. so i still have a week to do the other three challenges.

Another lo from this weekend this time with the girl kit from bons

and this one. A photo of Andrew and Hamish that's a couple of years old. I came across it and
wondered why it hadn't been scrapped before.
Love this pic of the two of them, taken in preschool:)

actions

I find Editing photo's can be a real pain, so mostly i just don't bother.  Only because i find it time consuming and after having photoshop on our computer for the past 3 years i find there is just so much to learn it's all quite bewildering.
I came accross these great actions to use with photoshop but could never get them to work until recently with a tip from Leah it gave me another push to try again and wow i finally worked out how to use these presets and am loving them so far.

Here's a before

and an after using the colour pop action

and another before

and after

there are so many different effects you can apply. now i've just got to install all the presets i've downloaded and have a play around with them. Fun !!!!
Cheers Leonie

I even won the opening night challenge last month for my 'contrary' LO in this post.

So i think i might give some of the challenges another shot this month. Why don't you check it out?!

Last night i did my first lo with Bons August boy kit. I think there are still some available if you want to buy one.
Sorry i can't show you my LO yet haven't photographed it yet. Save it for tomorrow;)

And now i'm off to work out how to post an 'Out for publication' thingy for a couple of LO's that have just been accepted for Scrapbooking Memories magazine. Yaayy!!!:)

Was i silly or Clever?

Was I silly to proclaim to my kids at the end of the first masterchef series (they're obseesed by that show) that i once made a croquembuche for mine and their Dads engagement party?

Well they thought this was pretty fascinating that Mum could create something like that and they actually didn't believe me!! shocked! would i ever tell a lie to my kids? (i really did make a croquembuche for my engagement cake you know)!

So was i even sillier to accept their dares and prove that i could make a croquembuche?
Well maybe i was because i accepted the dare and promised i would make a croquembuche .......before the end of the 2nd season of masterchef,  (don't tell anyone but i added this proviso believing they would soon forget).
Ha!!! of course they didn't forget and reminded me of my promise at least once a week during the 2nd season of the tv show.
Kids never forget a promise especially when it involves dessert!
so on the night of the big Masterchef Finale i created this super scrumptious dessert. YUMmmmmmm
I didn't have any sugared violets so I used daphne flowers from the garden as decoration (which mum tells me are poisonous, but we're all still alive and kicking, phew!).
My Daughter pointed out that that there was no butterfly (like on the tv one)
but she and the boys still gave me a 9 out of 10!!!

So was i Silly to make a rash promise to my kids?
In this case I think I was bloody clever!!!

july was a productive month

At the beginning of July I set myself a goal of 15 layouts, which included various challenges.
Well by the middle of July i had to revise that goal as i had already surpassed it. Yay me!
by the 31st i had a grand total of 30 LO's. almost one a day!
so here are some of the lo's i created towards the end of July
The first 3 are challenges  Bons cybercrop
The colour challenge(red black white and cream) + finger painting and something off the page (lace).

The Scraplift Lifted from Mal Gardener (man i love her paint border)
extra yay i won a store voucher for this one.

And the sketch challenge by Charm.
This was a just because LO i did in July. Mainly because i really wanted to do something really flowery and girly

And a july kit LO from bons

august kits go on sale tonight or tomorrow here woohoo can't wait for my kit sub.
so that was july a very productive month, mmm will i do as many in August? It's the 3rd i i haven't
done any yet better get cracking!
