I just have this sketch layout to share based on a sketch from Creative Scrappers.
I used some distress stains and the 6x6" chevon stencil from crafters workshop.
My new favourite I think.

and a little scrapware gate painted white and some glossy accents .

The papers are Creative Imaginations.

Savvy Cybercrop

This past week-end there was a Cybercrop at Scrapbook Savvy.
so I decided to take part
I used some really pretty Echo Park papers 'Victoria Gardens' that I've had
for a while. So I used these for all but one of the challenges.
I also used some pictures of my daughter
taken in July in my Mum's garden.
There must be something special about a grandparents garden,
there are always such wonderful places to explore and discover.
I remember playing and having grand adventures in my own grandparents
garden.
This first one is Sara's sketch, with the extra
criteria to used patterned paper as a base.

The second challenge is set by Renee and the criteria was
simply to use dots somewhere on your
layout.
I used some polka dot paper and added
some larger dots with a Heidi Swapp mask and some white paint.
I have some hidden journalling on here about the story behind all
the initials carved into this tree.

Anthea's challenge was to include, distressing, paint/mist and layering.
I layered the journal cards under these photos and used a
crafters workshop stencil and pink mist to
create the background.

This last one isn't actually for the cyber crop but it's for
Kerryns monthly manufacturer challenge which for October
is crate paper.

I have one challenge left to do, the scraplift which is sitting on my desk almost finished.
So I'm off here now to go finish it off. :)
cheers.

playing catch up...

I've been a bit slack with uploading challenges I've done lately
so I apologise in advance but here is a heap of layouts
I've done over the last few weeks.

The first one is for Stuck Sketches 1st Oct sketch.

This one is for the 'wordy' challenge at Scrapbook Savvy.
Using the word Special somewhere on your layout.

This one is or rather WAS for Sassy Lil Sketches send off event,
but as I said I've been slack and totally missed the deadline on this on. Whoops!!

And this one is for the Sketch at Anna's Craft Cupboard

Hehe! I loved telling the story behind this photo.
Kids say the funniest things.
I usually write them in the notes section of my phone whenever
one of the kids says or does something that I want to remember.
Then later I can hopefully scrap about it.
the most recent one I put in was last night
when Miss Maggie (6yo) asked me
'Mum, are Daddy Long Legs always a Dad?'
haha so cute!
when I said no and explained she went onto to
tell me all about seahorses and how the male seahorse gives
birth to the babies.
Unfortunately I don't have a photo to go with this story,
but there you go something but something new I learnt from my six year old!

123 and how I was inspired...

It's funny how inspiration for layouts
sometimes just sneaks up on you and after initially thinking there is no way you could manage to create something all of a sudden things just fall into to place.
When the 123 october challenge was announced I really thought
no sorry I can't make any of those criteria work together.
1) Gold
2) 'You'
3) Leather/suede and lace
For starters I have very little gold products and the other criteria
leather or suede and lace, well i didn't have any of the leather or suede either.
The word 'YOU' was probably about the only thing I could manage!
So it went on the back-burner and simmered away with me thinking
I'll probably just not do this challenge this month because
it seems too hard.
I remembered I had this gorgeous butterfly with gold glitter and rhinestones.
Is it Prima, I'm not sure it was in a RAK?
Great, a butterfly at least it's something but hardly enough
for a whole layout! So it sat on my desk for a couple of weeks and occasionally I
would think about doing this challenge, maybe some gold paint on white card stock?
Nah that didn't appeal.
Then I got my Scrapbook Nook kit
and it was filled with sparkly gold My Minds Eye lost and found papers!
but I still didn't have a firm idea of how to use any of it.
So it sat in it's 12x12 ziplock bag for a week or so.  All alone and unused :(
until I pulled it out earlier this week.

I liked this striped paper it reminded me of
some decadent Victorian or Edwardian wall paper and I remembered a previous layout I had done using MME
paper that was set out with randomly placed frames. It just so happens
that at the crop I went to last weekend I got a packet of Kaisercraft picture frame rubbons
as part of our welcome gift. Perfect!
Everything was coming together to give me
the inspiration to create a layout based on a wall covered with picture
frames.

I used some gold elastic cord I found in my stash to hang my picture to the
'wall' using a Brad to anchor it, scattered the rubbons around.
Painted some raw chipboard gold for the title, added my butterfly and
a flower. Then came the lace.  All done!
Well nearly!
I was still missing the leather or suede and while searching through
some things I found an old pair of denim shorts I had once used for the
denim and the tab on the back was made of suede type fabric.
so I ripped this off and added a layered sticker quote to it and I had another
picture for my wall.

And the moral of this story - umm apart from me being completely obsessed with scrapping!! lol
No?! how about if at first something seems impossible give it time and
you just never know what you can achieve.
Have a great weekend!
Leonie.

something a little different

Hi, I still have a a few scrappy layouts to share from
my weekend away in Barwon Heads but I felt like sharing something
a little different but still crafty...of course.
so while I was away I also did some little mixed media canvases.

I used a crafters workshop template to create the bird shapes

love the bright colours.

and the quote, well you can't go past
Judy Garland lyrics.

These are 4"x4" canvases and they look cute all
lined up together. Eventually they'll go on the wall in my study but for now
they're sitting on the Dado rail in our front room.

My second share is another mixed media canvas, this time on
a 12x12 panel.
I did this one last weekend at an all day crop-for-a-cause.
I Love these crops, been going to them for a few years now and they
are always lots of fun.

It's all about butterflies,

lots and lots

of butterflies. And a Kaisercraft wooden flourish. :)

Hope you like my something different. :)
Cheers, Leonie.

Scrap the boys- oct

Hey bloggers, I'm sharing a layout today for the STB challenge.
the challenge for october is to
"use HANDMADE BOY EMBELLISHMENTS on your layout,  you may use purchased handmade products, however please feel free to make your own!!!"
I used some embellishments from 'a lil somethin' (the flags) and a 'Charms Creations' lolloipop.
I used this cute resin
Prima mushroom i got last week. Just dipped it in some distress stain
to colour it. Those tags/tickets are from 'a lil somethin' aswell.
and the cogs are from 'purple pumpkin'.
Not bad, I used three different types of handmade embellishments. :)

I also used this brick mask from Prima, a Tim Holtz mask, and some punchinella
to achieve the background texture. Last weekend I saw the super talented
Kerry Murray use this fabulous
technique where she layered her masks and stencils.
I wanted to try it our and here it is. I'm pretty happy with the
end result.
Cheers everyone, hope you all have a great week.
thanks for all the lovely comments you leave me.

Once upon a Sketch.

Hi, I've had the most fantastic weekend away last weekend, with some gorgeous scrapping ladies.
We scrapped up a storm and talked and laughed, it was wonderful.
I managed to get a heap of October challenges done and even
some canvases!
Here's one of the layouts I scrapped, it's for Once upon a Sketch.
the journalling criteria included writing about
noteworthy events with at least 1 sentence about each event.

A fairly simple layout but I love the story it tells about my daughter.

that's is, short and sweet tonight. Kids went back to school this week
and I think I' still catching up on lost sleep from the weekend.
Cheers :)

October Scrap the Girls

If you're looking for a great challenge this month try this one
the challenge this month is to

Create a layout with the word ‘love’ in the title and to use ‘distressing’ on
your layout.

Always more than happy to break out the edge distresser and inks
this challenge was perfect for me.
I've inked the butterfly above and added some
distress crackle paint and iridescent gold glimmermist.

I've had this prima flower vine in the stash for a while and it was perfect for this layout.
I also added the packaging from a prima florish and some
corrugated cardboard for some more distressing.
The base of my layout is a Co'ordinations embossed cardstock
which i've sanded and added some walnut distress ink.

For the word 'Love' i've used a quote as my title
"Cousins are like the sisters you never had that will
love you forever"
A perfect quote for my only Daughter.
Having 3 sisters myself I realise now as an adult how
blessed I was and am to have these beautiful women close to me. So although Maggie has no
sisters I am glad that she has these 3 lovely young women
as cousins that love and adore her.

So if this challenge tempts you and I hope it does, head over here
and check out the awesome layouts by the other Design team and this month we have a fabulous Guest Designer, Marelize Frisby. A most awesome scrappy lady
you can check out her fabulous scrapping here.

Cheers :)
