Just sharing my February Scrap the Boys layout.
The challenge this month is a sketch
Head over here to check it out.
And let me tell you,
It really does pay to pay more attention when blog hopping!
I just went to the scrap the boys page to link this post and found out my
January entry was one of the winners! Very nice surprise.
And I've visited the page page to get this sketch, don't know how I missed that!!!

Anyhow here's my take on the February sketch.

Using the October Afternoon Sasparilla range for some
pirate pics of one of my boys.

Added some Purple Pumpkin and Lil red Rocket buttons.

And a couple of little shout outs
If you haven't heard yet about this fab new Kit club
starting in March then
go check out the blog here.
I can't wait to get my hands on one of these
Kits, even better share this and you could win one!

And last but certainly not least if any of you lovely people that visit here have any budding young scrappers in your household, -I know my 7yo often likes to scrap with Mum. You must
go to Show Us Your Stuff blog in March to see their new Junior Scrappers Challenge.
It's called Sophie's Corner.

Cheers, have a lovely weekend.

for no particular reason...

A couple of layouts I've done over the last month.
for no particular reason other than I wanted to document these photo's.

My Mum's 70th birthday last year

I used to dabble in decoupage...a long time ago,
and I recently came across heaps of images I had cut out but never used.

These floral ones were perfect for this pink paisley paper.

And some Prima embellishments.

And a Christmas layout using Crate paper and lil red rocket Christmas embellishments.
The Child with the Santa hat pulled over his face, well that's a whole other story/page
yet to be told!

Some journalling about the kids each wanting to put the angel on the tree every year.

and me of course taking a picture of each child doing this exact thing!
Our poor little Angel on the Tree!

Cheers, hope you've had a great weekend.

Show us Your Stuff -recipe challenge.

February 15th challenge at Show Us your Stuff is a recipe challenge

Use at least 3 pieces of patterned paper
Use 3 embellishments
Use at least 1 heart
Use some paint somewhere on your layout!

I scrapped some pictures of my second son Andrew, playing T-Ball.
I kid you not since before he could walk he has been fascinated
with ball's. When he was a toddler he gave up his cute little soft toy and slept with a football
instead!!!
He's since taken that cute lil softie back into his bed each night which I think is just the sweetest thing to do, especially for an eight year old boy. But then that's the sort of kid he is, Sweet! xx

I used washi tape from D-lish Scraps to bind the kraft shipping tags, also from
D-Lish. I then made a little banner from the tags with some twine and used this to
base my title on.

I made this flower from the October Afternoon Sarsparilla Flower Sack.
Sprinkled each layer with water and scrunched it up a little then put a
wooden button from D-Lish as the flower center.

Head over here to check out the other fabulous DT layouts.
You have until March 15th to upload your take on our recipe challenge.
Go for it!
Cheers and thank-you kindly for your comments.
much appreciated. :)

A Golden Wedding Anniversary gift

This may be the only card I make for 2012! I'm so not a card maker but as it was my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary last friday I decided to make a card for them.

I got this idea from a friends Facebook wall she'd done a similar thing for her
fathers 70th birthday. Here's a link to the blog that inspired the idea.
My sisters and I wrote, emailed, rang, and pm'd- relatives, friends, neighbors, and
old work mates of our parents.
We asked them to send us memories they had of our parents during the past fifty years.
Then we presented these to Mum and Dad on their anniversary.
We received back some beautiful, funny and heartfelt
accounts of peoples memories, Some people even sent
photo's to us which was wonderful.
There were tears and much laughter.
The grandchildren read aloud their memories of Granny and Pa,
and we took turns in reading out the others.
It was a great surprise and they loved hearing from family and friends some
of whom they hadn't seen in years.

I used a Bellah bloom from the D-Lish scraps shop
I also used the pearl spray, kraft tag, resin flower and paper doiley.
I also cut out the white tag from some of the D-Lish packaging which is part of the shops logo.

Here's how we presented our gift.

Of course on Saturday night when we celebrated their anniversary with
some family and friends it rained most of the evening!!! But we did manage to catch this photo
of Mum and Dad with their 4 Daughters, Sons-in-Law and Grandchildren. And several umbrella's!!!

Glad you liked it Mum and Dad. xox
Thanks also to everyone who sent us their memories. It was
very much appreciated.

a Kaisercraft texture stamp.

scrap the girls-February

When I found out the Criteria for this months Scrap the Girls challenge I was so excited to get
scrapping.

LOVE in the TITLE
TURQUOISE as the DOMINANT COLOUR and
CHIPBOARD

I'm not sure why but lately I have been loving anything turquoise coloured.
I chose these photo's and built my layout around them using Prima paper as a base that
had turquoise as its main colour.

I added the chippie birdcage and bird which I'd altered with inks and crackle paint.

A close up of my journalling.

The canvas Prima flowers were white but I altered them with paint and inks to match the colour
criteria.

I hope you're inspired by these criteria too,
brought to you by
our Guest Designer this month at STG, Agnieszka Bellaidea.
You can see all the other CT examples here.

There are some fab sponsors this month too, even more reason to participate!

and

**************************

This is my photo for yesterday - the prompt being 'hands'

No I wasn't driving when I took this photo, the engine was turned off!
The main reason I took
this picture was because I wanted to document the fact that I'm wearing my wedding band.

I took it off seven years ago when I was pregnant with Maggie. After loosing 18kg in the last four months
I was finally able to get it back on my finger. It was one of my weight loss goals achieved!
Still I long way to go but this has certainly sweetened the journey.

Cheers, hope you're enjoying your weekend.

SUYS February Sketch, Photo-a-Day, School and a little SD card disaster...

Whoa I think that's the longest
post title i've ever had!
I've got lots of things to share, bare with me though as I get through them.

My take on the sketch at Show Us Your Stuff.
February's sketch is Sara Noendengs last as part of the DT at SUYS.
So I hope we get lots of entries to show her how much we have loved creating with her sketches.

I had loads of fun creating this background.
I started out with some pink paisley resist paper and added
distress inks and at first I didn't like it at all so I just kept adding mists and stamping and
then distress stains until eventually when the paper was very soggy indeed it- began to grow on me-
well actually I think it's one of my faves now!
This is the sketch

My hand made items were some of Charms Creations lollipop's.

Do you like my messy tangle of twine, it sort of matched the messy background and the
the messy little darlings in the photo! ;)

***************

Feb photo a day
OK next up- February photo a day, I decided to follow the prompts on this blog

Feb 1st prompt is 'your view today'.
This was my view for several hours on Wednesday as I was
re-staking and retying our tomato plants. And In the background little
Miss Maggie had a picnic with assorted dolls under her very PINK
beach umbrella. Not a bad way to spend a sunny afternoon!

***************

Back to school

Well Februarys photo prompt was 'words' and being back to school day for my kids,
reading, learning an' all that
I've used the traditional group pic of them because....alright I'll admit it I forgot about the word
prompt til it was too late.
Great start i'm off to, day 2 and i've forgotten already!

                                                                  All Six of us posing

of course it usually degenerates into these sort of
pictures fairly quickly

I love these sort just as much though. x

**************
So if you've made it this far -my little disaster with the SD card.

After dropping the little darlings off at school I come home for coffee, in the peace and quiet
and began to upload all the photo's i'd taken.
Take the Card from my camera to put into the
computers card reader slot and accidentally insert it into
the CD Drive on the Computer instead.
Arrghh!
My computer ate my SD Card!!!
$50,
five hours later,
and
two trips to the computer tech on the other side of town
to retrieve the card!!

********

OK that's it.
Thanks so much for reading all this, hope it was worth it!
Cheers, be back tomorrow.

With a much shorter post! :)

Savvy Cyber Crop

School's back tomorrow! Yay! Had a great 6 weeks holiday but I'm so
looking forward to getting back into a school time routine.

There was a Cyber crop at Scrapbook Savvy this last week and I did two of the challenges.
The first is a puzzle challenge which had to include; a heart, paperclip, flower, splatters and a flag.

I used some gorgeous D-Lish embellishments on my layout including the forget-me-nots, the reindeer bottle cap (he's so cute!!), and these Kraft Christmas Journal spots.

The Second Challenge is a colour inspiration challenge based on this picture

The picture I scrapped is a couple of years old taken on my phone.
Andy bought and ate his first Chiko roll at the local swimming pool one
hot summers day. He thought it was the best!
I promise he's not as sunburnt as he looks! haha!

And More D-Lish magic on this layout in the form of washi tapes. Amanda has a huge variety to choose from in the shop
go and check them all out. You wont be disappointed.
I wanted to make a feature of the tapes so I've chosen colours to suit the challenge and layered them under
the photo.
The cute lil wooden flower button is from D-lish.

And some Kraft shipping tags also from D-Lish, how cool are these?

Cheers, hope you like.
Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks
in advance for your comments. I love to hear what you think of
my work. :)
