Wait for Me...Scrapping some Music

Hello, welcome to the weekend!
Just a quick share because I want to get out and celebrate
the last day of winter!
I'm so looking forward to some warmer days.

I posted a page during the week (Here) of the Bruce Springsteen concert my
Husband and I attended in March
this year.  Today I'm sharing another photo from that day.
A Selfie of the two of us before all the awesome music began.

I knew the day of that concert how I wanted to scrap this photo!
Tragic scrapbooker I know!
So it's been floating around in my head for quite a few months and I finally got it scrapped at Camp Mojo.
At the concert Bruce sang one of my favourite songs by him or by anyone for that matter
and it was so special to hear it live that I knew I wanted to document the lyrics and how beautiful
I think they are.
Scrapping pages using music lyrics is great, sometimes you just find words that
encapsulate perfectly everything you want to say, but are not too sure how to
put it into words yourself.

And just incase you haven't heard the song before here's a link if you're interested.

The background is made up of Dylusions and lots of water to blend and fade them out to almost pastel shades. The Stencil is a studio calico one, I love the imperfect circle shapes.

That's it for now, I'll be back next week.
Happy Weekend and good riddance to winter! ;)

Another Camp Mojo Share.

Hi Bloggers, I have another layout to share from my weekend away at
Camp Mojo a couple of weeks ago.
We had such a great weekend away.
Let me just say a room full of sixty odd women all scrapping their little hearts
out for four days is a sight to behold!
Lots of laughs and fun times with old and new friends alike.
Talk about inspiration overload!

So here's a pink and green combo.
My daughter on our camping trip last summer.  Frequent trips on her bicycle to the camp kiosk
for treats with her spending money.  Making memories. :)

The background is made up of a gesso base and then various pink and red shades of gelatos, stamping, stencilling misting and washi tape.

As always thanks for stopping by and thank you for your lovely comments.

Kraft It Up - August

At Camp Mojo I managed to do a couple of blog challenges one of which was
this months challenge at KIU
To create a layout in your own style.

So I used kraft as a base and created a nice bright background using several different mediums and techniques. There are Distress Inks, Luminarte Ink Pigments, Dylusions sprays, Rubons, Gold leaf, Freckled Fawn enamel dots, Studio Calico wood veneers and ummm I think that's about it!!! LOL

thanks so much for visiting, and thanks for your comments much appreciated. :)

Scrap The Boys - August

Hi bloggers, long time no scrappy share.
Sorry but as I mentioned in my last post I plan to spam my blog with layouts in the next few days!
Look out!
This one's for Scrap The Boys.
Monochromatic, chipboard and twine.
The boys of course are Bruce Springsteen on the left and my Hubby
on the right (just incase you weren't sure!!)
Greg is very attached to his T-Shirt collection most of them acquired during his travels to various countries and he keeps them forever!
As you can see this one is an original from Bruce's 1985 tour of Australia.
Let me tell you the fabric in a 28 year old t-shirt gets very, very thin and worn!

We went to the outdoor Wrecking Ball tour concert at Hanging Rock in March this year.
Totally awesome amazing concert!

The chipboard are chevrons from 2Crafty Chipboard that I've inked black.

Yep I think this is monochromatic alright!
I used a Ronda Palazzari - subway stencil, which is great for some subtle texture
under the not so subtle but ever gorgeous and bright Dylusions sprays.

And the twine threaded through my journalling tags.

Thanks for popping by, see you soon.

Exciting news!! Like, REALLY, REALLY exciting news!

I have the most exciting news to share!

No it's beyond exciting, its thrilling and amazing and... well I just can't find enough
words to express how ecstatically happy I am about this.

I made the Guest Design Team for
Faber-Dastell Design Memory Craft
September 2013-January 2014.

  Photobucket

I'm still finding it just a tad surreal, well lets be honest when I found out last week I felt like I'd
entered the twilight zone!  I mean really?! Out of over 80 applications from all over the world I was chosen as one of twelve to work with and showcase these amazing products.

I had applied for the previous Guest team and didn't make it and up until a couple of weeks before
the deadline for this teams' application I was undecided as to whether I should apply or not.
In the end though I ended up creating a layout I was super happy
with and used that as my application piece.

Anyhow, so I knew the date the team was being announced, and when I hadn't
heard anything back I thought
I would just pop over to the Design Memory Craft blog and
check who made the team.

Well I got the shock of all shocks when I saw my name and blog link
on the list of twelve new Guest Designers.
I had that page open all day on my browser and must have clicked back to it at least fifty times throughout the day to just check that 'heck yeah that really is my name!!' LOL.

Now I am just so eager to get creating and sharing all the things I love about Faber-Castell products.
There are links on the  Design Memory Craft blog to all the talented ladies I get to work along side.

Oh and I shall be back very soon with lots of scrappy shares from the wonderful weekend I had creating in the Hunter Valley at Camp Mojo 2013.

Scrap For Help - August

Hi, I'm back with my DT sample for the Scrap For Help blog.
Here's the prompt.

This is my take on the challenge.
Can you see where I used a tea bag?

Perhaps a close up will help. ;)
No?
It's there I promise.

Give up? ;)
Well, what I did was cut open the tea bag and pour the tea leaves onto white cardstock then mixed it
with Gesso and smeared it over the paper.
I then brewed a tea bag and squeezed the liquid from the tea bag so it dripped over the textured background and coloured it a lovely tan colour.

At this stage I hadn't decided which photo I was going to use for this layout.
So when I was flicking through my pile of pics this one of my son at Avalon beach in Sydney
jumped out at me.  The texture I had created reminded me immediately of the sand in the picture.
I then added some metallic blue Gelatos, to mimic the blue of the water.

So do you think you can use a teabag somewhere on a layout?
Join in our August challenge and have some fun
all the details are here

Scrap Around The World - August

Hello bloggers. :)
Beginning of the month means new challenges and we have a beauty over at
Here's our mood board and Sketch

Both the sketch & mood board images OR THE COMBO IMAGE OF BOTH MUST appear in your challenge entry.

Please check our RULES OF PLAY HERE before you begin your entry!

This is my take on the sketch and mood board.
I was primarily inspired by the cake image on the mood board
and used the greens and orange/apricot colours of the
folliage on the cake as a base for my layout.

Dylusions ink sprays are what I used for the background colours, along with stamps also
by Dylusions.  I like the circular theme to the sketch and used chipboard
circles to frame some of my photo's.
However I did substitute the main circle with the scalloped chippie frame. Creative license. ;)

My basic process for the background was to
  • Spray first with green and some yellow and orange colours.
  • Then stamping with archival ink.
  • Lastly I used a water brush to bleach out the colour in the leaves and flowers I had stamped. This made the stamped images almost white surrounded by the coloured background.

I'm using Washi tape on a lot of pages at present although little torn strips
like this are hardly going to put
a dent in the stash of washi that seems to have accumulated in my scraproom! ;)

And I finished off the layout with a painted chippie tilte and a little glitter.
