Pre-Prepared backgrounds.

Lately I've been creating backgrounds on cardstock without really planning
what photo's or papers I will use on them.
It's usually when I want to try a new technique or mixed media product or if I just want to
create without having to think too much. Lol
There are no expectations that I have to create it for a particular challenge, team or special photo.
So then if it doesn't turn out...well it's just cardstock and can go in the bin if I really don't it!!

Here's one such page.

What usually happens with these pre-prepared backgrounds is they go on the shelf
until along comes
a photo, or papers, or a challenge that it completely works with.

I took a few of these backgrounds to Camp Mojo and used them to create a couple of pages.
This background is made up of Distress Inks, Gelatos, stamping and
washi tape (i'm really loving this combination lately). ;)

And here's the second pre-prepared background I used.
This one has actually been sitting on the pile for at least a year or more I think!

I can tell because there's not as many mediums on it!!  No texture paste or Gesso and no Gelatos. Lol
Just some stencil work with Distress Inks.
But, it was perfect with the papers from this kit at Scrappy Chat Designs.

I just added some tags, frames, gauze and a flair button.

Do you often create backgrounds for no particular reason or it just me being strange?
Give it a go if you haven't it's quite fun.

  1. So glad these didn't reach the bin before you found photos to suit, I'm just waiting on my gelatos to arrive so I can have a play.

  2. These are awesome!!! I usually do my background when I've got in mind what I want to scrap, but I usually do another one or two pages at the same time to add on to later if that makes sense. :D
