Retreat layouts- part 2

Told you i'd be back soon!

Here's the second lot of layouts I did at retreat.

The Scrapbook Savvy April Sketch

I saved this background from the bin! Not naming anyone.... but the lovely lady scrapping next to me (who does some beautiful scrapbooking by the way)
didn't like the result of her gesso and stencil background.
Well I thought it was fantastic,
so I added some more mists, a photo, other bits and pieces,
and this was my layout for the retreat recipe challenge.

just because...he says the funniest things sometimes!

and just because...he takes his cricket sooooo seriously.

This one is for the Purple Pumpkin sketch.
which I actually finished today, i've had it sitting on my desk for about 3 weeks
waiting for journalling! oops.
And I think I may add in more journalling-  the words to this poem.
But since I don't speak one word of Italian,
I'm waiting on Andy to help me with that one!
So I'm calling it finished... for now.

And that's all for today I promise.
Cheers.
:)

Retreat Layouts- part 1

Well I'm back from the most fabulous retreat organised be Malinda Gardner.
Thank you Malinda for all the hours it must have taken to
organise. It was a great venue, yummy food, with plenty of scrapping space.
It was wonderful to catch up with and meet new friends and just basically
'scrap and chat' up a storm.

Being the end of the month a lot of challenge layouts I did at the retreat need to be loaded
pronto.
So there may be a few posts over the next day or so.
This first lot of layouts are all for Scrapbooking from Scratch.
Peta MacBeth drove many hundreds of kilometres towing a trailer
filled with her shop (scrapbooking from scratch) products, so there was lots of gorgeous
things to buy.  Thanks Peta.

The first is for the SFS quote challenge.

This one was actually a 'blind scrap' layout which
Peta ran on the retreat.  I've done blind scraps online before
but doing one for real in a room with 23 other scrappers was heaps of fun.
Really happy with how this one turned out.

The SFS colour challenge.

And the SFS sketch

Bye for now, back soon with more to share.

i'm back...

Hi, resuming somewhat normal transition here.
I disappeared from blogland for a few weeks there.
I'm blaming the chaos of school holidays, 4 children, work....
Oh and after just one week back at school my 4 lovelies
have had a five day weekend!!! Yesterday and today have been PD days for the teachers and then ANZAC Day tomorrow.
I'm about ready to scream the place down!
Bickering, bickering and more bickering.
Lucky i'm heading off to work tonight and hubby can deal with them tomorrow
while I catch up on sleep.

It's not all bad though, although I haven't posted any layouts I have been scrapping.
Not for challenges just everyday layouts for us.
So thought I would share one today.

here are some close-ups.
trying to use some of the chipboard stash!

And the end result.
Andy showing off the $10 dollars the tooth fairy left him. Shame it was the wrong currency. ;)

thanks for popping by- if there's anyone that hasn't given up visiting during my absence that is.
My apologies again.
Hopefully I'll be back again next week with lots to share, after I've spent the weekend
at a scrappy retreat. YAY!!!
 Cheers. :)

Perfect Little Imperfections

My first with the April -'A Piece of Cake Designs Kit'.
What a gorgeous kit can't wait to scrap more pages with it.

My Eldest boy showing some self-image concerns
to me a while ago. He doesn't like the moles he has on his face
I called it 'Perfect Little Imperfections'.
Of course as his Mum I think he has a gorgeous face.

I based this layout on the sketch for April at Anna's Craft Cupboard

And speaking of imperfections a couple of layouts I've done recently that to me
aren't my best scrapping for one reason or another but at least it's two more stories i've documented.
I wasn't going to post them but what the heck here they are.-

and this one

Happy Easter to you.
Have a Blessed weekend.
Cheers.

Show Us Your Stuff - April

Show Us Your Stuff have the cutest little picture prompt
as the first challenge for April.
How sweet are these?

I've used more of the MME papers that I love at the moment
from the Sweet Caroline range.
I've also used lots of yummy embellies from D-Lish scraps.
Starting with a decorative pin and flag and one of their
printed wooden buttons

Chiffon ribbon roses and a giant flower button

The green and lemon doilies (above and below) are also from D-Lish Scraps.
The 'awesome' and 'random' tags are little post-it notes from Typo -cute hey?! The banner is cut from some Typo pattered paper too.

And lastly the blue twine which is a nice thick one, rhinestones and
a paper doiley that I inked with a Dew Drop pearlescent ink.

Sorry for all the close-ups but as you can see there are lots
of embellies on this layout.

Jump over here to see the other DT layouts.
And the sponsor this month is a fab Kit Club - A Piece of Cake Designs. Go HERE to see the details and HERE to see the current kits. I bought one yesterday and trust me it's packed FULL of gorgeous papers and embellishments. I've scrapped a layout with it already which i'll share over the weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and as always a big thanks for your comments.
A Happy and Safe Easter to everyone.

Scrap the Girls - April

Hi I'm here to share my Scrap the Girls layout for April.
One of my favourite type of challenges this month....a sketch.

The sketch is based on an 8.5x11inch layout by Malinda and we'd love you
to give this size layout a go too but its not compulsory.
Having said that I was having such a fun time creating my layout
I forgot all about the size of it and automatically went for the old 12x12.
Whoops!!
When I was creating the background on this one
I must say I was totally inspired by this girls amazing
scrapping. I love the bright, fresh layouts she creates
and her layered gesso and paint backgrounds are always
a delight with so much gorgeous texture.
Thank-you for the inspiration Helene!
Visiting your blog is always a pleasure. :)

Here's my take on the sketch which i've rotated 90degrees clockwise.

Maggie plucked this flower off the table arrangement when we were out to tea
last Christmas and put it in her hair. I added a title from a Mumford and Sons song
called 'After The Storm'.

And of course I've teamed up lots of D-Lish Scraps
embellies to enhance the sketch.
Like this giant flower button how funky is that?
And with a mini crochet doiley in its center.

There are also some

Here's a close-up of the background.
The black stamped flowers are Dylusions and I
used punchinella with the paint and with the gesso
one of my favourite tools to get some texture on there.
Can you guess what it is?

A comb! Why do the cheapest things become the most favourite
and effective tools?

Ok that's enough of me for today off you go and
scrap using the STG's sketch challenge.
thanks for visiting,
Cheers. :)
