Love this spotty button!

And my oldest son went dressed as a zombie.
This is for the 1st Nov Sketch at Stuck Sketches

I made the circle of dots with red acrylic paint that has a very fine and pointed tip,

Some old Postage Stamps..

Amazing what you can do with some old Postage Stamps!
I saw this great Challenge on this talented chickie's blog and was inspired to
create a layout using postage stamps.
It was for a challenge on the Do More With Less blog.
Sorry Chantal,  I left it a little late and didn't finish my layout until after the deadline,
but I'm so happy with how this one turned so I hope you don't mind too much.

OK, so the challenge was to create a background using postage stamps.
Well quite a few years ago my Mum (who is a collector of many things!!) gave me
a storage box full of stamps-with the intent that I could sort them and put them into albums.
Ummm well I didn't quite get to that stage- 4 kids = busy life.
So when I saw this challenge I unearthed said storage box from
my laundry cupboards and looked at these 1000's of stamps.
The ones that caught my eye were the older ones from the early to mid 1900's.

They are all in lovely monotones, blues, browns, greens, reds.
Most of them had Queen Elizabeths' head or her Mummy's and a few
had some King I can't remember which one!!!
I'm sure the Philatelic Society would keel over at the thought of gluing and throwing
ink over old stamps, but hey a it's all in the name of....scrapbooking.  ;)

Next I found a photo to scrap with.  Me at about 2 1/2years with my Grandfather.
I may not be as old as the stamps!!!! haha but this Photo is
taken off a slide and is fairly faded so it matched the theme I was going for.

My embellishments are from Prima and D-Lish Scrap flowers,
resin cabachons from Lil Red Rocket, and doilies from
My Minds Eye.
The clock is Heidi Swap.

My plan was to create a Layout that looked like an old parcel tied in string.
The Airmail bakers twine was perfect for this, along with all the old stamps.
Lots of distressing, inking, misting and splats.
This is what I came up with.

The journalling is all about the things I remember most when I think of my maternal
grandfather.  He died aged 67 the year I was 12.  Some of these things I had forgotten
and they came back to me as I was doing this layout.  Gotta love a craft that
can do that for you.

I just love these Prima resin shapes, I rubbed some glimmermist on it to
add to it's weathered look.

Thanks so much for stopping by and if you happen to want to leave me a
comment, I thank you too for your kind words.  :)
Cheers.

WW1 and out of the Hat

Hey bloggers just have time to do a quick post, before the boys cricket game this arvo.
The First is for Out of the Hat

1. Spots or stripes
2. 2 different punches
3. Make a flower

I made the flower with the the cricut, two different martha stewart punches and some EP stiped paper.

The Second one is for White With 1
White + 1 bright colour + flowers

I love this textured white cardstock. It came up a treat with some
bright pink paint scraped on it.  And several different flowers, Prima, a sticker flower, & crochet flowers

Cheers all have a fab weekend. :)

Savvy Nov. Challenges

These three layouts are my takes on the November challenges over at Scrapbook Savvy

This first one is for the 'wordy' challenge set by Sara Noendeng, which simply involved
including the persons name on you layout.

Here's my boy Hamish Flynn and a bit of his writing I discovered
one day early this year. I think it's a pretty good description of him actually and
I love his misspelt 'especially'. Not technically the best design scrappy wise or anything but I'm so
happy to preserve not just Hamish' handwriting but his view of himself at 8yo. Hamish sometimes exhibits
a low self-esteem and is extremely hard on himself when he fails at something.
So it's even more lovely to see him writing about himself in such
positive terms. I love you Hamish. xox

The quote challenge set by Tara Scobie.
"Enjoy the little things in life.... for one day you'll look back and realise they were the big things"
Beautiful quote and showing some more of my Crafters Workshop template obsession. Actually the brick template is
Prima. So I do sometimes use templates other than CW! ;)

And the sketch set by Anthea Peterson.

I usually scrap in Chronological order, I'm sort of scrapping
August/September photo's at the moment. the other day I realised I had
completely forgotten to scrap any pictures from
this years Easter. So I printed a few off and here's one of them. :)

Cheers and thanks for stopping by. xx

Once upon a Sketch.

I think I'm just squeaking this one up in time.
Deadline is tonight for this sketch at Once Upon A Sketch.
I actually did the layout 2 weekends ago but just hadn't added the
journaling. So I finished it off today.
I rotated the Sketch clockwise.

and cut this flower out with my cricut.

And the jouranling is all about why and when I started
scrapbooking.

Scrap the boys-Nov

The November challenge at Scrap the boys is a beauty.

"SHOW US YOUR COLOURS"

"We have recently had the AFL & NRL grand finals, the Rugby WorldCup, the US Open etc so this month we want a layout of your boys or men showing their colours.
Please note that it does not have to be limited to footy or rugby, it can also include soccer, Touch Footy, Cricket, Tennis and sport that your child or hubby loves but you MUST make sure you have a photo of them in their colours!"

Well with quite a few sports mad boys in this house I could have scrapped
at least five pages with this theme.
But I settled on these photo's of 3 of the aforementioned boys.
Celebrating Geelongs' Win in the AFL Grand Final.
Haha I think Hubby is a little embarrassed about me capturing
him in such a frenzy. Hamish thought it was hysterical to see
Dad so excited and Andy was in as big a frenzy as his Dad!

I used the Chevron CW template and distress stains and inks this time and the black circles
are made with the wonky circles CW template which I stamped with black paint rather than
using it as a stencil.

And a few blue and white (just to tie in with the team colours the boys are wearing)
embelishments.

 Thanks for looking. :)

Get Picky Inspiration

A couple of weeks ago I came across a heap of photos from 2006 that I hadn't scrapped. Amongst them
were these cute pics of my daughter playing at the park.  So sweet to look back at these toddler pics, holding her favourite doll at that time and she always used to roll her tongue when concentrating.  I'd forgotten that (and am planning a layout about it!).
I guess this is exactly why I love recording all these little things from our lives.

So, I put together this layout using some of these pictures and because there were
several pictures it suited the Get Picky inspiration challenge.

Totally loving my crafters workshop templates at the moment.
The one I used here is the mini-herringbone. Along with some paint, distress inks and stains.

The Black bubble wrap stamping was a nice contrast against all those bright colours.
(Thanks Jas for the big bubble wrap:)) I love it).
As you can see I was inspired by the colours of the quilts in the
picture and the touch of black.

Extra criteria were to use fabric
I added a calico bow and some fabric trims, and Prima fabric alphas.

I also used these Studio Calico Fab-ribs to make a boarder
around the whole layout.
If you haven't seen them they are sticky backed fabric strips.
Love these too lots of fun.

Cheers everyone, and thank-you so much for all the lovely people that take the time
to comment. I love to hear from you all. :)
Have a great week-end.

sketchabilities #58

This is one of the layouts I completed on the weekend.
It's for The Sketchabilities blog.
I love sketches that have lots of stipes, great chance to
add lots of different papers. :)
These papers are October Afternoon.

and some close ups.

 lots of layering.

November Anna's Craft Cupboard Sketch

A quick share of the Sketch challenge this month

Some Purple Pumkin embellishments, the little mushroom button and the red flower.
And a Charms Creations lollipop

This is the Sketch.
I only had the one photo so I used a
tag with a quote (from the Wizard of Oz) on it, in place of the second photo.

And heres the whole layout.
Some gesso brickwork and then
I gave the base a rainbow effect with mists.
There's also some rubbons on there to form
the border.

Show Us Your Stuff- Nov 1st challenge

Hi, I've been busy packing today. I'm going on a retreat this weekend with a girlfriend.
I'm sure I've got loads more stuff than I'll need but I'd rather have too much than get there
and wish I had that particular paper or embellishment or stamp.
Lucky there's only two of us in the car!!!
I'm so looking forward to it, just need to print some more photo's tomorrow and
we're off!

Before I go though I'm sharing my layout for SUYS for the 1st of November.
This is the sketch by fellow design team member Sara Noendeng.

The Sponsor at SUYS this month is Scrapware.
The Design team received a gorgeous package of scrapware chipboard from Angela Connolly, the owner of scrapware.

Here's my take on the Sketch.
I used crate papers 'Random' collection of patterned papers.
All the little butterflies are Scrapware and i've inked them in a variety of colours. Cute!
The leaves are stamped with rubber Dylusions stamps and I painted them in with
Tim Holtz Distress Stains.

Sometimes when the Bunny ears in photo's are driving you crazy,
well you may as well just join in and have some fun too.

the rules at SUYS are pretty simple-

"Each submission must include a handmade or hand dyed item made by either yourself or someone else. You may enter a layout, card or OTP as long as it fits the requirments for the challenge."

My handmade items are the Charms Creations lollipops and stamped clay buttons which I've coloured with ink.
You have the whole of november if you want to take part in this challenge so go check out the other samples and our fabulous Guest Designer here.
Cheers. :)

Wow! November already, and the kids are into the 4th week of term four.
My eldest asked me today if he could do his Christmas list!!!
Better start thinking about Christmas!
But being the 1st of the month there are loads of challenges being announced, Yay!
Great time of the month for lots of inspiration.
I have the Scrap The Girls challenge to show you today, and it's a goody. :)

the challenge is to use Pink as the dominant colour
                                    Polkadots
                          and    multiphoto's

Here's my take on the challenge,
-Polka dot patterned paper as a base from Making Memories.
-The canvas tags are Maya road and I added some cabochon roses to them

-Some pink paint and stamps and the journal tag is Prima

Here's the whole thing, oh and there are some yummy pink lollipops on there from Charms Creations.

Pretty easy challenge hey? I'm sure you want to give it a go.
There are some gorgeous more samples on the STG blog here
Cheers. :)
