Scrap Around The World - February Challenge

This is the gorgeous mood board we and YOU get to create with.

Feel free to interpret the mood board in any way you like,

 using one image, several of them, all of them or even just

 one aspect of an image, using ANY COLOURS!  

Here's my take on the board.  I didn't go with the colours as most, often do. but instead

I was inspired primarily by the bottom left image.

I tried to create the graduated shading effect along with the sequinned dotty effect and of course

the quote. 

I added sequins and lots of splats and droplets of colour shine in tinsel.

My papers were from the Studio Calico printshop range.

While I was doing this page my son (pictured in this page) approached me wanting me to cut a tag off his shirt as it was itching him;  How fortunate that the tag was quite boyish and 

with his correct age on it!!  

Perfect!! 

It went straight on my page. :)

January Sum up and Kraft It Up

Hello Blogging friends.  Almost the end of January and I think 

I've just about returned to the land of normality.  Shame, because I think I prefer holidays!

We've had an awesome month of holidaying around the countryside.  

We spent 15 nights camping on the Murray River near Echuca.

Here are a few of my Instagram pictures.

We came home for a few days - just enough time to unpack, do about 20 loads of washing (I'm not exaggerating there) and repack again before heading for more camping this time on the stunning Great Ocean Road at Lorne.  

While packing I managed to squeeze in a small tote of scrappy supplies amongst the sleeping bags 

and tent. ;)  Everyone else was relaxing with what they enjoy most so I figured I'd do the same. 

See!

I decided to scrap the current Kraft It Up challenge only problem is I didn't take any

Kraft card stock!! So after a little brainstorming I came up with the idea of using the inside of a carton of beer. ;)

Perfect kraft colour and corrugated as well.  Bonus!

Number stickers from a 12x12 sticker sheet from the Studio Calico Range, Printshop.

Flair buttons and adhesive cork shapes also from the Printshop range.

I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays to colour the background.  You can see some of the washi here as well as a border around the corner of my papers.

Once Upon a Sketch - January

Here's my take on the Sketch at Once Upon a Sketch

I've used papers and embellishments from the Studio Calico Printshop range. 

Here's the sketch.

And the Journalling criteria is about a lesson.  My son getting sunburnt last year!

Hopefully he will now always remember the sunscreen!

The background is made using a Finnabair stencil from Prima and Dylusions sprays.  The black

outline is with watercolour pencils.

Choc full of Chippie favourites

Hello Bloggers!  I have a post today that is absolutely choc full of some of my very  favourite layouts all created using chipboard. This post is for the current Design Team call at Imaginarium Designs They're not in any particular order because well I struggled to narrow it down to 10! This first one has three different chipboard pieces on it.  Each piece has its own special treatment.  Plain black ink on the title for a striking contrast, texture paste and paint daubers on the large flourish frame and a lovely pearl finish with liquid pearls for the birdie.

Doodling with a white gel pen on dark inked chipboard always looks so effective.

The chippie star type shapes on this page were actually flowers that I removed the stem

from and made them into funky looking stars.

This third one is filled with bursts of bright colours!  So, because I love brights, it easily made it into my ten favs.  I like how the B&W photo stands out against all the colour.  I coloured the alpha frame grey and highlighted my kids initials in different colours.  Most of the chipboard is painted with acrylic paints, some of them also coated with distress stickles for some sparkle.

I covered some of the circular chipboard shapes on this one with Washi Tape.

I kept all the Chipboard on this page decorated in a uniform manner as there was so much happening on the background a coat of white paint and brown ink around the edges made the Chipboard jump out on this page as well as matching the cricket whites theme of the photo. 

Gold Leaf! A bit tricky to apply but on painted chipboard it gives a great effect.

I also used a metallic pen to outline the title chipboard. 

One of my all time favourite pages! 

The Chipboard on this one had a heap of different products applied.  Paint, Clear crackle medium, glimmer mist, chalk ink and finally some distress stickles.

Oh and some doodling with a white gel pen on the title!

I did this page when I first started playing with Distress paints. 

So the chipboard on this one has some texture paste then some little dabs of distress paint.

I did this page as my current layout for the Design Team at Scrap The Boys 

(still time to enter if you haven't already) ;) 

With this one I adhered the chipboard and embellishments to the base before coating everything with Gesso and then using various sprays, inks and stamping.   I had lots of fun with this page flicking and splatting (not sure that's a word but you know what I mean) paint and ink all over the place.

And lastly one of my favourite and most often used techniques with chipboard.
Texture paste dabbed on with my finger and then stamping over it with texture stamps.
Double the texture! Twice as nice! - just like my twinies here!

Layout catch up

I discovered some layouts that I've yet to share on my blog.

These were all scrapped a couple, well actually more like four months ago and I'm 

pretty sure I haven't posted them here. 

So I'm playing catch-up.  

(And if I have posted some of them and forgotten my apologies)

This first one is made with Dylusions and I think the biggest flower I've ever used on a page!

Really happy with how this turned out, although at the time I recall that 

things weren't happening how I wanted them to. 

 But persistence won in the end!!

The next two are using Gelatos.  

With this first one the Gelatos are used wet.

See all the tiny letters scattered about, great way to use up all those odd letters we have left over.

Saw it on a Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday post ages ago and loved the idea. 

This one is also using Gelatos but using them dry and just lightly blending them with my 

finger over some stencilled modelling paste.  

It gives a great texture, especially if you also use a card stock 

that has a linen weave texture to it.

Scrap The Boys - January Challenge

Hello Bloggers.

 Welcome to my very first post as a Design Team member for 

The Scrap Boys blog challenge.

Our first challenge for 2014 is to scrap 

SOMETHING NEW. 

Kind of appropriate being a brand new year!

My 'something new' is my twin boys holding the puppy we presented the kids with 

last year.

My background is made of lots of chipboard, metals, buttons, zips, resin, gauze.  A bit of everything really.

Then it was all Gessoed and sprayed with Dylusions, Luminarte elementals,  distress stains and 

basically anything else that was to hand at the time. 

What a lot of fun this page was! hehe!
